A solid deodorant you apply as a balm
Atelier Populaire solid deodorants come in a tin. Scoop out a little balm and spread it onto the skin; do not rub the tin directly against your underarm as you would use a stick. Take a moment to distribute the product evenly. Our wooden spatula is an option if you prefer not to use your fingers to take balm from the tin.
These deodorants are designed to address unwanted odour and do not stop perspiration. Feeling some moisture under your arms does not automatically mean that you have applied the product incorrectly. That distinction can be useful if you have previously used an antiperspirant.
- Take a small amount
- Spread on clean, dry skin
- Close the tin
Follow three simple steps
- Start with clean, dry underarms and clean hands or a clean spatula.
- Take a small amount and spread a thin layer over the intended area.
- Work it in carefully before getting dressed, then close the tin.
If the balm sits in a thick patch, try spreading it more evenly before adding anything else. A heavy layer uses more product and can leave more material in contact with your clothes. Adjust the amount over a few uses without assuming that a thicker application must work better. The aim is an easy, comfortable routine.
Choose your fragrance preference
Nature is made without added fragrance. Citrus has a citrus scent, while Coconut offers a coconut fragrance. These differences can help you choose, but they do not replace the ingredient list. The application method is similar across these balms; the exact ingredients vary by product.
Fragrance-free is not a promise that nobody can react to the formula. These deodorants include sodium bicarbonate, so check the full ingredients if you already know that a particular substance does not suit you. Our INCI ingredient-list article, available in French explains the names used on cosmetic packaging.
After exercise or shaving
After activity, clean and dry the area before reapplying if you need to. Adding layer after layer over balm already on the skin is not an essential part of the process. Pay attention to how the product feels and follow the directions on the tin.
After shaving, do not apply deodorant to irritated or broken skin. If you experience stinging or discomfort, stop using it rather than pushing through a supposed adjustment period. A natural or organic formula does not mean that an unpleasant sensation is something you need to tolerate.
Keep the tin and applicator clean
Avoid introducing water into the tin. Clean the spatula according to its care instructions and let it dry before putting it away. For travel, check that the lid is secure and follow the product's storage directions. Use a clean applicator each time rather than putting a dirty tool back into the balm.
